Hildenborough had their third game in 7 days on Thursday 12 April welcoming University of kent to the racecourse sports ground. The previous game saw a well contested 0 – 0 and with the Uni side still having games in hand they could finish high up the table.
Borough started the game off well and looked comfortable on the ball from start to finish. The team seemed to of found their best form going into the end of the season and it has showed over the last three games.
The game got of to a good start when after 10 minutes Karl smith curled a free kick into the bottom corner. With Borough always in control and working hard of the ball closing down they grew in confidence. Ottway and Spenceley both went close but were unable to finish.
Smith got his second goal of the game when a great through ball found him in space and slotted the ball in with confidence. The Borough back three were again outstanding and with Mikel Czanner organising in the Boro goal it was going to take something special to break them down.
Boro started the second half of well and again chances were made but not converted, Until Spenceley got a well disserved goal after working none stop all game. He was played in down the left and his pace beat the defender and with a powerful strike put the ball into the back of the net.
Smith rounded his hatrick of well when a shot from Adams was miss hit and smith turned and slotted the ball in.
The final goal was a well set up goal with a good 10 passes before it found smith who played the ball to Adams who’s sliced volley found smith who fired the ball back post to find Young to slot home for his second goal in two games.
Even though Boro won this 5 – 0 the whole team had a part in a great game of football from the home side.
