The first 15 mins of this match were probably the poorest we've played all season. With the rain lashing down, Borough Green had two early chances and converted them both. To the teams credit, heads never went down and shortly before the break Mark Whalley scored from a well executed volley low to the keepers right post. After a great through ball from Elliot Phipps to Abdel Najid, Abdel controlled the ball and rounded the keeper before amazingly hitting the post when an empty net loomed before him, the resulting rebound being smashed wide!!!
We started the second half of this game as a different team and two goals in quick succession from Darren Yeung and Elliot Phipps helped turned the game around. Matty Kent had played a defence splitting pass through to Darren and a good first touch and neat finish made the scores level. A little later Darren turned provider as he rose in the air to head back across goal for a simple header for Elliot. Darren also converted a penalty after John Gilden was fouled in the area. Special mention must go to Alan Penfold who was very solid throughout the afternoon with his tackles and winning headers. A very pleasing performance after being 2-0 down. Bring on AW London!!!
